Ardbeg Uigeadail
Combining deeply peated malt with whisky matured in sherry casks, Ardbeg Uigeadail marries intense Islay smoke with dried-fruit sweetness. It is bottled at 54.2% cask strength without chill-filtration and named after the loch that supplies the distillery's water. Rich peat smoke, Christmas cake, treacle, espresso, and leather fill the nose; the palate is intensely smoky-sweet with raisins, dark chocolate, tar, and mocha, and a very long finish carries deep peat, sherry sweetness, and lingering smoke. Produced by Ardbeg in Scotland and priced around $70 to $95, it ranks among the distillery's most complex regular releases, and the sherry-cask contribution distinguishes it from the bourbon-matured ten-year bottling.
