Der Anteil des Whiskeys, der während der Reifung aus dem Fass verdunstet, typischerweise 1-2 % pro Jahr in Schottland und bis zu 4-5 % in wärmeren Klimazonen wie Kentucky. Über Jahrzehnte der Reifung geht ein erheblicher Anteil durch Verdunstung verloren.
