Highland Park 12 Viking Honour is an Orkney single malt whose hand-turned peat maltings give it a uniquely floral smoke, distinct from mainland Scotch. It pairs heather-honey sweetness with gentle aromatic peat. Heather honey, gentle peat, citrus, and aromatic smoke open the nose; the palate is honey-sweet with heather and floral notes, layered peaty smoke, plump dried fruit, and warming spice, and a long, balanced finish keeps heather-honey sweetness beside drifting peat smoke and a warm maritime character. Bottled at 40% ABV by Highland Park in Scotland and retailing around $45 to $60, it is the quintessential Orkney malt, its floral smoke a product of the distillery's own maltings.
