Distilled through the tallest stills in Scotland and matured for ten years in ex-bourbon casks, Glenmorangie Original forms the foundation of the distillery's range. The tall stills produce an exceptionally pure, elegant spirit. Pure Madagascar vanilla, ripe peach, blood orange, and spring florals shape the nose; the palate is silky with vanilla cream, warm toffee, ripe citrus, and toasted almond over a gentle lightness, and a clean, crisp finish leaves sweet peach, vanilla, and lingering floral sweetness. Bottled at 40% ABV by Glenmorangie in Scotland and retailing around $35 to $50, it relies on still shape and ex-bourbon maturation rather than heavy cask influence.
