Ardbeg 10 Year Old
Among the most heavily peated single malt Scotches produced, Ardbeg 10 balances intense smoke against sweet malt at 46% ABV. It is bottled non-chill-filtered to preserve flavor, and despite its power it achieves notable balance. Medicinal peat smoke and fresh lemon-lime citrus lead the nose alongside smoked fish, sea spray, and a sweet barley undercurrent with faint dark coffee. The palate brings rich peat smoke, malty sweetness, black pepper, and espresso, and a very long finish is dominated by lingering smoke, bitter dark chocolate, and a mouth-coating maritime brine that lasts for minutes. Distilled by Ardbeg in Scotland and priced around $50 to $65, it is the distillery's flagship and a benchmark for heavily peated whisky.
