About

A small cask approximately one quarter the size of a standard barrel. The dramatically increased surface-area-to-volume ratio accelerates maturation, producing in a few years what might take a decade in a standard barrel. Historically used for transporting whisky by packhorse. Laphroaig popularized the modern quarter cask with their namesake expression. The small size means very intense wood interaction.
